What a beautiful spring day. And I have a spring cold. I managed to not get sick all winter but it hit me hard a day or two ago. So, I’m taking today to lay in bed drinking lots of fluids, get some work done and throw in a few naps as well. My cold came at a relatively good time, minus the fact that I have to run 20 miles tomorrow as my last long run before my marathon the first weekend in May.  I just got done casting a shoot in Miami where we needed three deep sea fishermen.

I did have a shoot earlier today with a wonderful photographer named Levi Tijerina. He is a wedding photographer that travels around the world taking pictures of some amazing weddings and locations. He has a bit of down time as this is his off season before wedding season really ramps up so we did a couples shoot earlier today. I was modeling in this shoot and it was a lot of fun to work with him. He’s amazing and truly has a great vision and talent. I can’t wait to see how the pictures turn out. I’ll be sure to post them once I get them back.

Last week was the Pampers Pull Ups shoot and it was great. We had five babies and one “mom” and all went smoothly. Only one baby was a little bit clingy but the other four were superstars, doing what we asked them to do over and over again. They were all adorable and a lot of fun to work with. Overall I couldn’t have asked for a better, or more professional, team.

We have the Pioneer Drama shoot coming up in May that I’ve been doing with Mark Woolcott for the past three years. If your child is interested in participating (ages 14-18), let me know and I’ll get them submitted. We are just starting the casting process and it’s a great experience with full hair, make up and wardrobe for the kids as they act out their favorite plays for this fun company.

I’m also in the process of shooting a new TV series called The Modern Consumer, produced by Collin Floom. He’s awesome and we’re hoping to have our first episode shot and put together by the end of the month. We have interest from Fox and CBS already so keep your fingers crossed we can get it picked up. I’m one of the journalists and am currently working on a story on DUIs. I look forward to shooting it later this month once I get a bit more of the initial research done.

Beyond that, I have been doing more corporate events. I am going to run one of the events next week here in Denver and I have a great team of people put together to assist. Denver is starting to do a lot of these and so I’m excited to get the opportunity to organize and use all my people. We have a really fun time and I think the corporations that we’re doing the events for do as well. I’ll try to remember to post some pictures.

Happy St. Patty’s Day!

I’ve been a bit absent. So sorry! This year has gotten away from me already. How does that happen? It’s mid March and work is crazy busy already. I just cast a Sevylor SUP shoot in San Diego that’s taking place this week. I can’t wait to see how it turns out, we have some amazing models and awesome SUP’rs.

I’m in marathon training right now for the Colorado Marathon in Ft. Collins. I ran my 18 mile run last weekend (at 3:30 AM) and I have to say, it wasn’t too bad. Yay! The bad thing about running 18 miles is knowing that for the race, you still have to go another 8 miles. Damn, that’s far.

Beyond that, I’ve been auditioning a lot, doing a lot of team building and I did a fashion show a week ago. It was a lot of fun and I’ll post some pictures once I get them back. We haven’t even really gotten started with Coleman yet so once that hits, things are going to be non stop. I’m just trying to get prepared so I’m ready when it all kicks in.

I’m in the process of creating a production website so once that’s up and running I’ll post the castings there. I’m looking forward to getting that done. I think it’s going to be really cool, so excited!

That’s about it for now. I’m tired and don’t have much to say today. It’s these silly early mornings catching up with me.

Bronco Sunday, December 8th

Ho, Ho, Ho, Merry Christmas!

It’s December 8th and I have my lights up, Christmas cards out, tree up (and mostly decorated), all but one Christmas present bought and now it’s time to sit back, relax and enjoy the season….and wrap. I do have a lot of wrapping to do but that’s easy enough. It feels SO GOOD! I’m never ready this far in advance and the snow is looking glorious which means I’ll probably have to spend my days skiing. Oh, it’s going to be a rough December.

I had laser surgery on my eye on Friday. Not LASIK but PRK, which is similar but they take the entire cornea off and your eye regrows it so there’s a longer down time. It has required me to have my eyes shut the past two days and I’m supposed to be keeping them closed today as well but honestly, I’m bored. And rested. And ready to get back to life so I’m watching the Broncos and pretending like my eye doesn’t hurt.

Oddly enough I have a lot of jobs pending for December still. It’s usually slow but I have a few jobs that I’ve been cast in and am waiting to get an actual shoot date. The audition I felt that I did really well on is going to cast this week and shoot in early January so that’s been put off for a while. Which means I’m still in the running. I was just selected to be the female spokesperson for vasectomy advocacy. Yes, you heard that correctly. It’s a non profit and I’ll be featured on their website. Another statement I never thought I would say. Sounds fun, though, and realistically it is something more people should give some thought to.

I am also in the running for a sauna commercial. I heard they were shooting next week in Denver or Florida but no decision had been made on location yet. As of Friday they still hadn’t decided what they were doing so I’m just hanging tight at this point. I can’t imagine we could pull a trip to Florida together so quickly but it would be fun (and warm). As I think more about this shoot, I’m almost positive I used to do their commercials. I did a few of them when I first started working with this film company so it would be fun to get back into them. It’s a matter of sitting in a sauna looking relaxed, which now that I have my Christmas shopping done, I can do. Yay!

This time of year I’ve started thinking a lot about relationships. I have some really fantastic friends. I think I have more than most people and for that I am so blessed. I also have some friends that I’ve thought of as friends and have come to realize they are  friends of convenience. So let me explain. I’m an all in friend. You come to me and I’ll be there for you. I’ll come over and help you paint. I’ll find you a job. I’ll loan you money if you need it and I’ll be there to talk, day or night. I love to cross mix relationships. I love to introduce my friends to my friends in other groups. But, over the past couple months I’ve seen a lot of my “friends” take and take but never return the favor. Are those people really friends? Does that count as a friendship? After talking to one of my best friends, someone that I talk about time after time in my blog, he’s helped me realize that they really aren’t friends but friends of opportunity. They show up when they need something, under the pretense of friendship, and ask me for favors. These things are often business favors, asking me to work for free or for way under my value. And the strange thing is, I’ve done it. I’ve done it because I felt a bond of friendship with them but it goes on and I give but they never return it. In fact, they ask for more. And I’m glad because it’s taught me that sometimes I need to be tougher. My friends are all I have and I love them but once a friendship becomes one sided, it’s no longer a friendship. So this is what I’m going to focus on in the new year. How to balance my healthy friendships with my acquaintances and be able to differentiate the two.

So everyone, I hope you’re staying warm this cold December day. I hope you enjoy your holiday and surround yourself with  loved ones. I hope you get some good skiing or snowboarding time and I hope the Broncos win.

Love you all,

K

PS, sorry about any typos. I can’t see very well so I’m sure there’s a bunch.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope you’re all enjoying the holidays. It’s go time from now until Christmas. I haven’t even started my Christmas shopping but I’ve decided I’m not going to stress out this year. It will get done when it gets done.

I’ve had a couple of great shoots with Mark Woolcott recently. We did a Christmas card shoot a week ago and then just last weekend we did a shoot for Penn+Pooch, a dog garment company. The second day of Penn+Pooch was outside and it was chilly. We got some awesome stuff, though. I’m so excited for the final results. Below are some pics from the Christmas card shoot.

I had a great audition earlier this week. We’ll wait to see what happens but it sure feels good to walk out of an audition feeling like you did a good job, whether you get the job or not. It’s the times you blow it that it sticks with you and runs through your mind again and again.

Anyway, I’m heading out skiing tomorrow and just realized I’m sleepy so I’m heading to bed early. I’m looking forward to a few days of relaxation (minus the massive amounts of shopping I have to get done).

XOXO

Thursday, November 14th

Happy 11-14-13 Day. Not the same ring as 11-12-13 but I’m a few days off. I haven’t written in a while, been getting settled in my new digs and catching up on the life I haven’t been living for the past couple of months. Whew. I think I’m ALMOST caught up! It hasn’t been an easy few months either but I’m coming out the other side, no worse for the wear, or so they say.

What’s new, you ask? Good question. Coleman I thought was dying down but we’ve had a ton of shoots lately, most of which I couldn’t attend. I still cast all of them and so that was good and then I had my days to do some other fun shoots.

I filmed a Doritos Super Bowl competition commercial. I was the annoyed wife. Insert picture below.
Kari looking angryEnough said.

We also did a Jeep spec commercial last week. It was so cool! I’ll post it once it’s finally done but we filled an entire Jeep with leaves as a prank and filmed it. Below is a picture of our handiwork. Leaves are stinky so notice the air freshener in the window. We were thinking ahead.

I did a shoot with Gaiam for their fitness line this week. I’ll be on their website and their retailer sites doing video modeling of their fitness clothes. Turn smile, turn smile, turn smile, turn smile, hold. And repeat.

We’re doing a Christmas card shoot this Sunday at an awesome studio. We’ll have fun decorations, wreaths, lights, bright colored clothing and giant signs to have families play with to get some fun holiday shots. I’m doing that with Mark Woolcott and my role is producer (and I get some awesome holiday pics out of the deal).

Oh yeah, and we’re doing a dog shoot in a week. Two days, one inside and one out, for dog clothing-wear. I’m really looking forward to this. I get to find the awesome pups and their owners to be our models so it will be a lot of fun to handle and again, I’m working my bestie Mark.

Lots more going on. I just can’t remember what and I think I need to go grocery shopping.

Oh, and a big thank you to Rich at Computer Geek for fixing my website. He’s pretty cool.

October 24th, 2013

It seems that my website is having some problems. My font is dark and can’t be read on most of my posts but for some reason it’s still fine on the blog section. Strange. I’m trying to get someone to look at it and fix it for me since I’m pretty much technically illiterate.

Here’s the good news…I moved into my new house! Yay! That huge, tedious, expensive, exhausting process that I embarked on four months ago is finally over. I’m still in the painting, unpacking, organizing, cleaning stage but I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I’ve dedicated the next two days to just getting everything in order so I can start to enjoy my new little abode.

Work gave me no downtime during the move. I have had a lot going on and it’s been so fun but I’m a little bit worn out. I’ve been fighting off a cold so I think after these next few days off I’ll be rested and back to my normal self. I also don’t do well when my surroundings are a mess so the next few days of orienting myself and my stuff will help out.

So Coleman is about wrapped up for the year. I was sad to see it end. We had so many great shoots this year with wonderful models and a fantastic crew. It was our second year all working together and we really gelled. I miss my little Coleman family already but it’s something to look forward to for next year. I thought the producing side of work would slow down a little but I just had another job for vaVesta, which was amazing. The owner of vaVesta is this fantastic woman with so much energy and enthusiasm. It was absolutely infectious and I loved working with her. The shoot was last week (the day after I moved) and it went smoothly. The end result was wonderful shots of our seven different models and I couldn’t be happier. We spent Tuesday going over the pictures and choosing our favorites to use in the brochure. It was a three week whirlwind of activity but I’m really pleased with the results and I think the owner was as well.

I was also working with a photographer on casting RTD shoots. We did two of them to be used by RTD as stock photos so they can pull from them for various ads they’re running. We have another shoot this Sunday as well, Bronco themed, so that will be fun. We probably won’t have any more until November, though, so that frees up a little bit of time for me as well.

Since my production side of things is starting to slow a bit, I’ve been able to focus more on my acting and modeling. I recently did a movie called La Maison, which was with a really fun cast and crew. I’ll post a picture below from the set.

I also did a shoot for a tote bag company, that picture is below as well.

Below are a couple of pictures from a Coleman soft cooler shoot I did a few weeks back. I might have posted these already, I can’t really remember so bear with me.

I did a mother/son themed shoot with Allen Birnbach that was fun. I think I must have gotten hit in the face with a soccer ball at least three times. I think we got some great shots, though.

Oh yes, and my Garmin ad is almost out so that’s posted below as well.

I’ve also been doing a couple of shoots for Gaiam (yoga) so that’s been fun. I love that company, they are a bunch of really fun people from what I’ve seen. I’m thrilled to have an opportunity to be involved.

That’s about it for now but I have a bunch of other stuff coming up in the next week or two. Hopefully I can get my website fixed and add more to the behind the scenes pages, etc, but this is what I have for now so it will have to do. Peace out.

September 11th, 2013

Hey y’all. I’m tired. I think when I get tired I revert to Norma Jean (my alter ego from Murder on the Rockies in Estes) and my southern side comes out. It’s tiring to both you and me but I’m still tired and I think I’ll deal with her (Norma Jean) tomorrow.

So…when did I write last? Let me start off by saying I’m moving on Sunday. Moving boxes in a U-Haul and then movers moving large crap on Tuesday. I just want to be in my new home. I want to be settled. It feels like so long since I’ve just been “home”. I’m tired and want to relax in front of the tv and not stress about what needs to be done. Can some one teach me how to do this…please?

On another note…my father died four weeks ago tomorrow. It was unexpected and caught me off guard. Realistically not totally off guard since he was 77 (which in dog years is super old) so it wasn’t like I wasn’t aware he was going to die at some point…I just didn’t see it happening on this  Saturday morning. But it did. And there are things I’m thankful for and things I miss but in the big scheme of things, I think he went the way he wanted to and for that, I’m grateful.

Work. Work has been crazy busy. I keep thinking it will slow down but it hasn’t. Great but I have to remember to enjoy the ride. I tend to overbook myself with odd ball jobs so when really good opportunities come my way, I’m not available because I’m doing things to fill the gap. So, what’s the lesson to be learned here, boys and girls?  No, it’s not don’t see how many grapes you can stuff into your mouth since you might choke. It’s Remember to Smell the Flowers. I think. Doesn’t that seem like it fits right there? I don’t know. Honestly I thought I always had to smell the flowers, which at times can hurt my back and often pisses off the bees.

Ok, side tracked and back to work. I am doing the Dirty Girl Mud Run on Saturday. We filmed part of their promotional video last week and the rest on Saturday in 40 degree weather in the mud. Yay cold.

I did a Coleman stand up paddleboard shoot last Thursday where we were paddleboarding at 7 AM in 36 degree water. Thankfully no one fell in (I’m post a couple pics below) but once we got on shore hypothermia set in and we couldn’t stop shaking. Yay cold. Notice a theme here?

I had a shoot for Garcinia Cambogia yesterday and I literally laughed out loud once we got done and my counterpart Meegan sent a text to the director saying we had been pronouncing Garcinia Cambogia wrong throughout the entire video. She saw it on Dr. Oz, so it must be true. Looks like a do over to me.

I’m filming a movie (La Maison) this weekened and I have a meet and greet for an awesome yoga company on Monday. So tired now, must sleep. x’s and o’s to all of you.

PS, some of the pictures below are from Mark Woolcott Photography which was a different shoot about two weeks ago. The others are from Brooks Freehill Photography.

Bunch more shoots, shoots galore, but I’m just too tired. I’ll write more once I’m in my new house with a glass of wine and a more focused approach.

Peace out,

K

September 12th, 2013

It’s flooding here. I just watched this crazy rescue where crews pulled a man from an overturned car where a road washed out. It was insane.

So, it’s obviously a stay at home day, which is great and wonderful and perfect for a rainy colorado fall day.

I did receive some fun shots from Mark from one of our Coleman shoots the past couple of weeks. I’ll post them below. We have two more shoots scheduled, which I’m currently in the process of casting. They’re mainly fitness type shoots so they’ll be fun and great additions to our portfolios.

Other than that, it’s been a little slow for the past week, which has been sort of nice. I don’t like slowness for extended periods but it’s given me time to get some stuff done and I appreciate that.

xoxo

September 5th, 2013

Hi y’all. I hope life’s treating you sweetly. I sit here writing as my new little cat chews on my ponytail and attacks my neck purring the whole while like we’re both having the best time. He should know by my squeals of pain and the fact that I’ve moved him three times, that I’m NOT having the best time.

It does feel so nice to sit on the couch, though. It’s my first day off from the past 12 days of shoots with Coleman. We’ve been going non stop shooting up by Empire. Brainard Lake in Ward, Aurora Reservoir and Evergreen. I cast around 50 models in the past two weeks and drove more miles than I can add up. Some days I was up as early as 2:30 AM to pack my car and drive to the shoot location.  We also had a bunch of shoots without models so there was a lot of setting up tents, steaming tents, steaming sleeping bags, styling the shot, tearing down the tents and redoing it over and over again. Let’s just say I have no desire to go camping at this point. I’m beat and not leaving the house until our next set of Coleman shoots ramp up again. Well, maybe sooner…

Below are some pictures from the shoot. Most I took with my phone but the 4th one down was taken by our wonderful photographer, Mark Woolcott.

XOXO

August 13th, 2013

Crazy, beautiful life.

I’ve been in a bit of a funk the past couple of weeks but I think I’m coming around. I like organization and my life was anything but organized. I put my house on the market just to see what kind of response I would get and I sold it for asking price in two days. Well, one would think that’s wonderful but I, on the other hand, didn’t know where I was going to live so it caused some stress. On top of that, when I was getting my carpets redone to get the house ready to sell, a friend was watching my 2 cats and dog and lost my little 1-year old kitty. I was devastated and have been searching for him for 5 weeks now but no luck. I decided to get a new kitten last week and he’s not the lover that my other cat was but he’s definitely got an interesting personality. I also found another house to buy so things are falling into place like they should.

Now that’s my personal life. Work hasn’t stopped to let me deal with myself so I’ve had to throw myself into it and assume the personal stuff will work itself out, as it did. Coleman took a while this season to pick up speed but it’s on in full force. We have 6 or 7 shoots this month alone and they’re all intensive. A couple are up at the Poudre in Fort Collins, a few at Bainard Lake up past Boulder and some down in Denver. So there’s a lot of driving and moving parts involved, which keeps me on my toes. These are the most fun shoots, though, the water toys. Lot’s of playing in the water, being pulled behind boats, hanging out in sunglasses and bikini tops. Seriously, I’m being paid for this? I love my job.

Since the production management side has been so busy, I haven’t had a lot of time to audition for other jobs but there have been a few here and there. I am learning to do make up so I can do more styling on shoots as well. That’ll be fun and it’s something I’m interested in.

Other than that I’ve been spending my time running and golfing. I did the Georgetown Half Marathon last weekend. After a summer of eating out and not working out like I usually do, this was my “this is going to hurt and you deserve it so you get your ass back in gear” half marathon. I think it did just that.  Yay.

That’s about it from me for now. Below are some pictures from our most recent Coleman shoots.

Kisses.
